Do I need a reservation?

How old do you have to be?
There are no age requirements for surfing. Obviously, you have to be comfortable being in the ocean. Some will tell you that you don't need to know how to swim, which is actually true because we supply leashes and teach at beginner spots.

When do I start ripping?
Right before you sign a sponsorship with Quicksilver, and that will take some time. We guarantee you will stand up or you can come back for free until you do.

What do I need for the surf lesson?
We supply board, leash, rashguards (surf shirt), booties (surf shoes), and a professional instructor. You supply the sunscreen and the smiles.

Where can I rent boards?
High Tech Surf in Kahului, and Royal Hawaiian in Lahaina. Also, most surf schools rent boards. After your lesson, we offer great discount rental packages.

Where do I surf on Maui?
This is key with lessons and rental. There are many good spots on Maui from Honolua Bay (north) to the Kihei Cove (south). We teach at the Lahaina breakwall. The trick is consulting the locals to know where you should surf based on your ability. Consult with the pros, who will steer you in the right direction for fun and safety. We recommend "the cove" for beginners, and most of our lessons are there.

Can I get a photo of me "hanging ten"?
We have an excellent photographer, Ric Larsen, whose gigantic lens will capture your amazing feats. He'll snap action shots every time you stand up, and put them on a CD for you to pick up when you're done. Click here for a video from Ric.
